Anyone playing Soul Calibur 4 yet?
Taki is still my favorite. However playing a sassi in GW will make me QQ because I'll never be able to make one that looks anything close to that.
Here's what I've learned about SC4 so far:
-Character designs look awesome for the most part.
-Kilik is still overpowered.
-Yoda is a bit cheap, Vader's apprentice is a little over powered.
-That semi-rts mode was scrapped for better or worse.
-The story mode which was one of SC3's saving graces was gutted so much it's pitiful now. In fact most of my negitive marks come from its gutting. The ending scenes are all a little generic from those I've seen (haven't played everyone yet).
-The number of characters is starting to get a little bloated; the optional ones aren't that great, Shura is the best one from what I've seen so far.
-CAS is nice if you just want to make a new character, bad if you need to max out one of your stats: all the pieces have stat values so you can end up looking pretty random out there. Plus you can't make any sort of Jedi characters.
-Tira lost her infinate spam attacks and now is twice as freaky with her two stances.
Charade is out of the game as far as I can tell.
-I haven't spent a lot of time with all the new characters, but the gothic lolita plays nice and Vader isn't too bad. His force powers with flames are a little annoying.
-I still can't do Ivy's difficult throws.
-Has an online mode which is a big plus.

I got it the day it came out. TBH its not that good. I LOVED SC3 because of the adventure mode, but the tower of lost souls is just terrible, not any fun. I wish they brought back the adventure mode... But Yoda is definitely the character I have been expecting, great attacks that suit his fighting style (like when we saw him face off against Count Duku). I kinda feel they only redesigned the old SC game, and overall i didn't feel like it was made any more then a generic arcade game

Bunny, I haven't tried him yet; I've never been much of a nightmare fan.
Dante, in SC3 the adventure mode was terrible and ended up corupting both gamedata and cartridges. I really don't blame them for scrapping it.

The character creation and online matches are the selling point for me. I've always been a fan of Soul Calibur, but in all honestly I miss SC2. Despite how awesome the character creation and online gameplay is, nothing can replace playing as Link, Hiachi, or Spawn.

Hilde has a lance, but you have to fight for half a minute with a button held down for it to do a ton of damage.
In online matches, do the variable points form character creation count? If they do, you are going to see a lot of tacky clothing as people try to min/max.
BTW, I have tekken so heichaci isn't a big selling point to me. I'd rather see Kos-Mos or Ryoko.

Playing unbalanced characters doesn't do it for me. Albeit Darth Vader is maybe the most balanced out of the three, they're still not as balanced as the other characters were.

You mentioned Spawn.
A character that could fly around, stall matches forever, and shoot Fireballs.
I don't quite see your point.
In fact, Spawn is more broken than Heihachi, Link, Darth Vader, Yoda, and Starfire combined, times 5.
EDIT:
Also Yoda and Starkiller all suck pretty badly. Yoda is slow as shit and his only two advantages don't make up for the fact that he has to work to do shit damage, and Starkiller has to work for damage that while the most damaging combos in the game, are pretty hard to land if you are fighting someone who actually knows what they are doing. Darth Vader is the strongest out of the three, but still pretty average balance wise. In SC4, more than half the cast is better than all the bonus characters soooo

Yoda sucks? lol that the first ive heard, he may be small and appear to be walking slowly, but if you use him right, he can be very fast. Personally i find him cheap, if used the right way. His small status is a plus if anything because you can't miss with your attacks... Starkiller (the apprentice?) i haven't unlocked so i have no opinion.
Also in response to adventure mode, I found it great, personally and it was new and fun. I guess not everyone was into it... It gave a style of tactics into fighting, instead of straightforward battling, which I liked...
Oh and to the person who wanted to know about nightmare? Nightmare is pretty much the same he has always been, except with new armor. Hes pretty cheap, along with Angol. Massively powerful sword attacks with super absurd long range pretty much sums up nightmare.

Yes he sucks, he has to work to make mediocre damage, he is slow (which is bad, considering no good player actually guards.), and so he can't be throwed and some attacks miss, everything else hits him hard.
Also nothing is cheap, go read Playing to Win some time.

Nightmare also sucks.
Siegfried got a speed boost, does everything Nightmare can do, but does it better simply because he is faster.

...no good player actually guards... thats a fallacy right there. I can't even explain how wrong that is. Guarding and evading are two of the most important factors in playing. If there wasn't gaurding, then it becomes like sock'em boppers. Yoda also doesn't move slowly, as far as I can see he attacks very fast compared to the rest of the people. True he makes mediocre damage, that i agree, he isn't slow except when he normally walks. He jumps a lot, which makes up for his slow walking and his attacks are pretty fast. Yoda the best char, but hes among the top imho. You should read other boards and see their opinions on yoda, its generally positive.

Nightmare is pretty good, high huge sword makes him a pretty long ranged attacker. though many of his attacks are slow, his massive power makes up for it. And no, Siegfried isn't completely the same as Nightmare, though I definitely see the similarities. From what ive seen when I play him, his attacks do a bit less damage then Nightmare's, making up for it with speed. Plus i haven't found out what siegfried's armor breaker was, which is already different from Nightmares which is just back y (as far as i remember)

Payne, there is no weapons master but you can change the style of your CAS whenever you want to in character creation.

I loved the original SC on the Dreamcast, but dropped the series with SC2 after they gutted Mitsurugi and gave Taki big tits.
